20 hours to learn something new?

According to Josh Kaufman it only takes 20 hours to learn something new. Therefore you have to follow a method which consists out of 4 different steps.

1. Deconstruct the skill. Break it down in different parts and focus on the most crucial elements. If it is a language concentrate on the 2000 most used words, whether is a musical instrument focus on the most used chords.

2. Use reference materials to self-correct. As soon as you realize a mistake consult and rely on these materials.

3. Remove barriers to learning. Remove any distraction around you and focus exclusively on the skill.

4. Practice at least 20 hours.
